If your dog tries to use rear legs to stand up as human's standing status when he/she puts his/her front legs on your lap, this will increase the weight loading on his/her hip joints which is no good for CHD dog. If he/she is on sitting or lying position, I don't think there is any major problem. Try to think this way, any action will increase the rear legs/hip joints weight loading is no good for your dog.
